An Attraction to Crazy

My brother Noah went out on a few dates with this one girl in the past week. Being the loving sister that I am I naturally demanded to see a picture of the girl vying for my brothers love and devotion. As those of you in close-knit families know: if you don’t have the siblings approval then you’re not going to last long in the relationship.

A thing to note is that a few of my brothers tend to be attracted to mildly crazy chicks. I say this as their loving sister who openly teases them about this all the time. Some guys like brunettes, others like them with longs legs. My brothers? They like ‘em crazy!

After he showed me the picture the following conversation occurred.

Me: She doesn’t seem crazy enough. Throw her back.
Noah: We’ll see. She is a redhead…
Me: Ah, so she most likely is crazy.
Mom [who is a redhead]: Excuse me!

Mack: I do not! You fold them department store style! I fold them right!
Me: One, hello? I worked retail in college thus you are doing it wrong.
Mack: So what? You fold them wrong and I am right!
Me: You know what? This is one of my OCD issues. You should understand these little ticks well enough.
Mack: Ugh, fine. You know I finally learned your way of folding underwear ‘right’.
Me: I have noticed! Shows that you are trainable after all!
Mack: Never mind. Put aside stuff that you think I can actually fold.
Me: There’s a pile of socks over there with your name all over them.
Mack: Thanks.

A False Alarm

This afternoon while Mack was making lunch the chicken was forgotten on the stove for just a minute too long and set off the fire alarm. The chicken itself didn’t catch on fire but it did cause enough smoke to make the alarm go off. Unfortunately we were unable to get the darn thing to shut off so Mack went to greet the fire department while I, naturally, hid like the coward I am (wanting no credit for this false alarm).

Afterwards when the alarm was off and we were back inside Mack went about making lunch again (round 2, fight!) while I sat on the floor working.

Mack: You know, setting off the fire alarm is a great way to see what all your neighbors look like.
Me: Oh, so everyone evacuated?
Mack: Yeah, except this one woman who stood on her patio smoking a cigarette. She was all like [raspy voice] ‘Eh, fire’s gunna kill me one way or another.’

I won’t tell you how long I was laughing at the voice in which he said it but I can admit it was longer then was really appropriate.

This might offend someone but know I have the utmost respect and love for the homeless and it’s called a joke.

Mack: We should see if we can track down some vodka tonight.
Me: Heh.
Mack: Why the snicker?
Me: Nothing… you alcoholic.
Mack: What?
Me: Nothing! I was joking.
Mack: You bum!
Me: Why do you call me a bum? (pauses) Oh wait cause I have no job! (cracks up).
Mack: You said it, not me.

Frankly it was him or me

While we were watching a movie Mark let out a sudden scream of sheer terror. Running across the room a spider (which was approximately the size of a small dog) was heading straight for him. After a panicked scream of “Spider! Big spider!” Mark realized that Mack wouldn’t be able to save him in time and thus threw his tile coaster and managed to direct hit and, ultimately, kill the spider.

After Mack removed the corpse the following conversation occurred:

Mark: I’m sorry Mack that I killed that spider. It was hauling ass towards me.
Me: With death in his eyes.
Mark: Exactly. Now where exactly did it come from you think?
Me: The depths of hell itself.
Mark: Well I sent it straight back there!
